Tuesday, 19 May 2015

Santiago de Chile (Agenzia Fides) - 47.2% of sexually exploited children in Chile do not go to school. The consumption of drugs and alcohol are other risk factors that aggravate the situation. The alarm was launched by the Centre for Commercial Sexual Exploitation of girls, boys and Adolescents (Escnna). 8% of minors have problems related to alcohol consumption and 22% regard drugs. Sexual exploitation is more prevalent among adolescent girls. To try to cope with the phenomenon, the Fundación San Carlos de Maipo has launched an initiative called Comunidades que se cuidan. It has to do with community associations that create areas of protection to disallow risks and promote community and families as protagonists in the prevention of sexual exploitation.
