Monday, 18 May 2015

Faisalabad (Agenzia Fides) - Family, catechists, teachers, youth, children: all united to pray the Rosary every day in May, the month of Mary: is the experience of the parish of Toba Tek Singh, in the diocese of Faisalabad, in the heart of the Pakistani Punjab. As reported to Fides, Fr. Yaqub Yousaf, organized a special prayer program for the opening of the Marian month.
A crowd of worshipers marched in procession through the streets of the city, leading to San Pietro School where a Mass was celebrated. "The recitation of the Rosary every day is a way that unites hearts to God", said the pastor.
Fr. Yousaf, who is also Director of the diocesan Biblical Commission of Faisalabad, is also promoter of a special "biblical apostolate" which, as explained to Fides, intends "to promote love and friendship, life with the Word of God". Catechists, teachers, lay people, young people are promoting this form of itinerant apostolate, which is much appreciated by the parish priest and the whole community.
"Although the word of God is an inexhaustible source of strength, access in Pakistan is difficult. Few Pakistanis believers have their own copy of the Holy Scriptures", note sources of Fides. Currently in Pakistan there is the new Catholic Bible in Urdu, which was completed in 2007. (PA) (Agenzia Fides 18/05/2015)
