AMERICA/MEXICO - Mgr. Armendáriz to candidates: "We want proposals rather than promises"

Monday, 11 May 2015

Santiago de Queretaro (Agenzia Fides) - "We all want proposals rather than promises. For example, those who promise to build more hospitals, we ask you to support the existing hospitals and give good service to our people", said His Exc. Mgr. Faustino Armendáriz Jiménez, Bishop of Querétaro (Mexico), ahead of the 7 June elections. The Prelate made these statements after Sunday Mass yesterday.
All of Mexico is preparing for the elections, when it will have to vote for nine governors, 641 municipal councils, 500 seats in the House of Representatives, 993 mayors and 16 delegations of individual states in Mexico City (see Fides 14/04/2015).
Yesterday, according to the note sent to Fides, Mgr. Armendáriz Jiménez insisted on the election campaign saying that candidates must put an end to the dirty war, they must play fair and have to think about the common good. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 11/05/2015)
