ASIA/JORDAN - The first "Lourdes Grotto" in the Hashemite Kingdom

Amman (Agenzia Fides) - The first shrine dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes in Jordanian territory is located in the parish of the Sacred Heart in Nour, 24 kilometers south of Amman, and will be inaugurated on Saturday, May 2 with the recitation of the Rosary and with a Mass celebrated by Archbishop Maroun Lahham, Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem. After Mass, Archbishop Lahham will inaugurate the shrine by sprinkling water brought specially from Lourdes in France, while pastor, Rifat Bader, will read out a letter sent by Mgr. Nicolas Brouwet, Bishop of Lourdes, to bless the first place of worship linked to the French shrine. On Sunday, May 3 even the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Fouad Twal will visit the shrine.
