Havana (Agenzia Fides) - "The Catholic Church in Cuba has received the news of the Pope's visit in September with great joy, in the new era of rapprochement with the United States, a process in which the Vatican acted as mediator", said Assistant Secretary of the Bishops Conference of Cuba, Mgr. José Félix García to the press.
The spokesman of the Archdiocese of Havana, Orlando Marquez, said that "the Pope's visit will support the Cuban Church in its traditional attention to the cause of peace and the common good". The spokesman highlighted therefore the "privilege" of Cuba, of welcoming three Popes: John Paul II in 1998, Benedict XVI in 2012 and now Pope Francis. Pope Francis will be in Cuba in September, on dates to be determined, before his visit to the United States of America. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 24/04/2015)
