AMERICA/UNITED STATES - Little Sisters of The Poor gather for last Mass in Cleveland

Monday, 30 March 2015

Shaker Heights (Agenzia Fides) – Palm Sunday was the last time that the Little Sisters of the Poor gathered for Mass at their longtime home in suburban Cleveland, in the state of Ohio. The Catholic nuns are leaving because they no longer have enough nuns to operate their Warrensville Heights facility where they have provided care for the poor and elderly since the 1960s. The facility was sold to a private company that provides care for the elderly. Sister Robert Francis Marie tells WOIO-TV in Cleveland that she thinks it is the right decision even though it is hard to leave residents who they have cared for over the years. The nuns will still work in other houses of their institution in Ohio, near Toledo and Cincinnati. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 30/03/2015)
