AMERICA/ARGENTINA - 400 years of evangelization in Posadas: "we share the joy of evangelizing"

Misiones (Agenzia Fides) - The Diocese of Posadas celebrates the 400th anniversary of the founding of the first "reduction" of the Jesuits, called Our Lady of the Annunciation of Itapúa, which was the nucleus from which originated the current capital of the province of Misiones, Posadas, and the evangelization in the territories of the Mesopotamian region of Argentina and Paraguay started. The theme of the celebrations is "With grateful memory, we share the joy of evangelizing".
According to information reported by AICA, the most important moment will be on March 19, the feast of St. Joseph, Patron of the city and of diocese of Posadas. The entire diocesan community is convened in Plaza 9 de Julio and a procession will carry the statue and the relics of San Roque González de Santa Cruz (1576-1628), a Paraguayan Jesuit missionary. At 8pm, the Bishop of Posadas, His Exc. Mgr. Juan Ruben Martinez, will preside the Mass concelebrated by priests of the "Posadas Center" and "Great Posadas" areas. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 11/03/2015)
