AMERICA/NICARAGUA - "Facts have to be reported": creation of the Human Rights Commission in Pantasma

Jinotega (Agenzia Fides) - The Bishop of the diocese of Esteli (Nicaragua), His Exc. Mgr. Juan Abelardo Mata Guevara, S.D.B., presided yesterday, March 5, the establishment of the Human Rights Commission in Pantasma, Jinotega, wanted by the population after the events of violence in the region. The most recent case happened in El Portal, where three people were killed by an explosion (see Fides 13/02/2015).
Jesus Montenegro was elected President of the new Human Rights Commission, dependent on the Nicaraguan Association for Human Rights (ANDH) which is chaired by Mgr. Mata.
The Bishop urged the people of Pantasma to denounce all types of violation of their human rights: "You have to report the facts, because here many violations of the rights of the people are being committed" he stressed. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 06/03/2015)
