AMERICA/BOLIVIA - Bolivians are asked to reflect on the vote

Thursday, 5 March 2015

Cochabamba (Agenzia Fides) - A few days ago Bolivian President Morales said that he will not work with the local authorities of the opposition during a speech in the city of El Alto, and urged Bolivians to reflect on the vote.
In a public message, His Exc. Mgr. Roberto Flock, Auxiliary Bishop of Cochabamba, asked people to vote and to think of the common good. "To better understand the President’s statements, let us listen to the words of the Gospel", wrote the Bishop, who then quoted the passage in which Jesus reminds the Twelve that "whoever wishes to be great among you shall be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave" (Matthew 20: 25-28). Then he commented: "Jesus perfectly describes the authoritarian attitude of the current leaders of this nation, in contrast to the Kingdom of God and contrary to the common good. We ask for their conversion". Bolivia prepares itself for regional elections, set for March 29. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 05/03/2015)
