Wednesday, 4 March 2015

Shi Jia Zhuang (Agenzia Fides) - A prayer vigil with Eucharistic adoration for the persecuted Christians around the world, especially for Christians in Syria and Iraq, was held in various Chinese Catholic communities on the second Sunday of Lent, March 1st. According to information gathered by Agenzia Fides, the pastor of the parish of Nan Tang of the diocese of Xi An, in the province of Shaan Xi, explained the reasons for the vigil and the situation of Christians in the Middle East, in addition to the solidarity of the universal Church, urged by the Pope. During the homily, the pastor invited those present to pray for the persecuted Christians, but also to love our enemies who harm us, because they are God’s children, and to pray for terrorists, so that they convert their heart and abandon violence and persecution against Christians.
Even other Catholic communities celebrated the vigil for persecuted Christians, for world peace and an end to persecution, like the parish of Wu Jia Tang in Tang Shan, in the province of He Bei. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 04/03/2015)
