Ciudad de Guatemala (Agenzia Fides) - The San Jose Reception Center, founded in Guatemala in 1985 as a non- governmental organization to help HIV-positive children who are abandoned, orphaned or sick. Currently the center takes care of 67 children where not only do they receive medical care, but also psychological support that teaches them to live with their health condition. Many, especially the older ones, refuse to depend on drugs for life. Furthermore, people with HIV, because of medications, are constantly exposed to diarrhea, vomiting, skin peeling. They may also have kidney problems and cholesterol and treatments involve a very high cost. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 29/01/2015)
