Guatemala City (Agenzia Fides) - In Central America, unaccompanied boys, girls and adolescents or separated from their families, fleeing from their Countries, are forced to be deprived of education in order to find a place where to survive. With the Niños de Paz project, promoted by the 'United Nations High Commissioner for refugees (UNHCR) and the General Directorate for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection of the European Commission (ECHO), seek to improve access to education, protection and information of minors that find themselves in accommodation centers along the border between Mexico and Guatemala. The realization of the project was possible thanks to the support of the European Union, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2012, that decided to donate some of the money to UNHCR for the protection of refugees and thousands of displaced children in different regions of the world.
