AMERICA/MEXICO - The Church reminds authorities that they even have to respond to the law for their actions

Monday, 15 December 2014

León (Agenzia Fides) - In response to President Enrique Peña Nieto, who a few days ago said that one has to "move past" the disappearance of 43 students in Ayotzinapa, the Archdiocese of León instead asked the President to clarify the case.
In the editorial of his weekly "Gaudium", the Archdiocese highlights that what was said by the President "is incomplete, and in reality one should take action".
The editorial, sent to Agenzia Fides, adds that feelings derived from the tragic fact of Ayotzinapa have led to demonstrations and riots across the country and, therefore, to a partial paralysis. "Of the tragedies such as Aguas Blancas, Casino Royale in Monterrey, and San Fernando, Tamaulipas, the perpetrators have gone unpunished and there are no leaders in jail".
