AMERICA - The new land of the "landless", a living and current history

Thursday, 11 December 2014

Bogota (Agenzia Fides) - The experience of the movement of the "landless" of Brazil, who continue to struggle in search of their own fate, like that of other similar movements of the continent, is presented in the n. 27 edition of the "Latidoamérica" magazine of CELAM ("Latido" means beat). It also speaks of the struggle of the Haitian blacks against the French invaders, between 1790 and 1804, when the first independence movement in Latin America appeared, and the one that was led by the Quilombos of African origin in colonial Brazil.
The note sent to Agenzia Fides by CELAM, underlines the slogan "another world is still possible", chosen by the magazine as a guide to the experiences that make up the life and the hope of many peoples in various parts of the continent.
The edition is dedicated to those who "have walked towards freedom to allow a reality of justice and fairness". The Catholic Church is always present in these pages of modern history of the Latin American continent. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 11/12/2014)
