AFRICA/EGYPT - The government is studying the draft electoral law, 24 seats reserved for Christians

Cairo (Agenzia Fides) - The Egyptian government has begun the study of the rules with which parliament will be elected in the coming months. According to statements attributed by the Egyptian press to Ibrahim Henaidi, Minister for Justice in the transitional government, Christians will be reserved 24 seats in the next parliamentary assembly, while 56 seats will go to women. Parliamentary seats will also be reserved for young people, workers and farmers (who in the next parliament will have to be at least 16 for each of the three categories). The Country will be divided into 231 constituencies, which will elect 420 deputies with the single-member system and 120 with the proportional list system. (GV) (Agenzia Fides 10/12/2014)
