AMERICA/MEXICO - Students missing: "The authorities must clarify the situation", said the Bishop of Tlaxcala

Saturday, 29 November 2014

Tlaxcala (Agenzia Fides) - In a video sent to Fides (and also published on the website of the Diocese of Tlaxcala), Mgr. Francisco Moreno Barrón, Bishop of Tlaxcala states that the authorities should clarify the story of the 43 students who disappeared in Ayotzinapa, Guerrero (see Fides 10/10/2014) as soon as possible.
The Bishop expressed solidarity with the protesters who marched peacefully in the capital of the country. Stressing that peace implies justice, Mgr. Moreno accused the authorities to ally with the crime and to use violence against those who are supposed to protect.
The Bishop said that the government intends to present the peaceful protests of citizens in a bad light instead of clarifying the facts and do justice, highlighting the actions of violent groups who infiltrated in the peaceful demonstrations. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 29/11/2014)
