EUROPE/ITALY - A FRUIT OF THE GREAT JUBILEE: INAUGURATION OF JOHN PAUL II HOME FOR DISABLED PILGRIMS TO ROME

Rome (Fides Service) – On Sunday June 29, feast of Saints Peter and Paul, the patron saints of Rome, the John Paul II Home for the Disabled - Opera Don Orione will be officially inaugurated. The Home is situated in Rome, Via della Camilluccia. Besides the building of the Home for disabled as a gesture of charity and a fruit of the Great Jubilee 2000, the Pope also decided to set up a Vatican Fund to cover the management expenses of the Home which will accommodate disabled pilgrims to Rome.
Director Rev. Angelo Cordischi voices his satisfaction and enthusiasm: “The Opera Don Orione considers it a great privilege to manage this Home as a sign of the Pope’s charity towards disabled pilgrims also because this work is in keeping with the Opera’s charism of love and service to the Pope and care for people most in need. The Home will be inaugurated at 10.30am on behalf of the Pope by Cardinal Angelo Sodano, Secretary of State. Present for the ceremony also Rev. R.
