Wednesday, 8 October 2014

Posadas (Agenzia Fides) - During the fifth week of vaccination against rubella, polio and measles, the Argentine region of Misiones recorded a 55% coverage, amounting to 56,034 vaccines given to children between 1 to 4 years of age. The National Campaign for vaccinations carried out throughout the Country, will end on October 31. The Ministry of Health of Misiones aims to reach 102,500 children. All children in the above mentioned age group should be vaccinated against these three diseases, as being vaccinated favors the elimination, while in other countries around the world they continue to cause severe cases and deaths. The vaccines are administered together, are free and mandatory in all health centers and public hospitals in the Country. Many residents of the surrounding neighborhoods in Misiones cannot reach centers or hospitals. The region of Oberá has organized a mobile clinic where parents can bring their young and even older children. Moreover, even pregnant women can carry out medical check ups. So far, 190 children have been vaccinated. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 08/10/2014)
