AMERICA/VENEZUELA - "Division is not from God": in march for peace and unity of the country

Wednesday, 1 October 2014

Ciudad Guayana (Agenzia Fides) - "Our intention is to make people understand that we as Venezuelans cannot live divided, division is not from God, it is of the devil": this are the words with which His Exc. Mgr. Mariano Parra Sandoval, Bishop of Ciudad Guayana (Venezuela), invited the entire community to participate in the "March for Peace" which is held every year on October 4, on the feast of St. Francis of Assisi. Mgr. Parra also stated that: "We must respect and recognize others who think differently from us, but we must seek unity and dialogue in order to put an end to violence and death, we must above all sow life".
The Bishop explained, according to the note sent to Fides Agency, that this year the march will be held in a different manner: in fact, the march will start from some parishes and then all the participants will meet in the square of San Buenaventura church, in San Felix.
The intention, explains Mgr. Parra, is that every parish and church organizes a significant initiative to reflect on peace and unity. Precisely for this reason, this year's theme is: "In community, we walk for peace".
"We want every family and every community to reflect on peace, so there will be a guide, a prayer and a few themes for reflection", said the Bishop. Moreover, the Holy Father’s letter expressly invited Venezuela to peace and to put an end to violence. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 01/10/2014)
