ASIA/JAPAN – Resignation of the Archbishop of Osaka and appointment of successor

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – The Holy Father, Pope Francis, on 20 August 2014, accepted the renunciation of the pastoral government of the Archdiocese of Osaka (Japan) presented by Archbishop Leo Jun Ikenaga, S.J., in conformity with the Code of Canon Law, canon 401 § 1. The Holy Father has appointed as Archbishop of Osaka, Bishop Thomas Aquino Manyo Maeda, until now Bishop of Hiroshima. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 1/9/2014)
