AMERICA/EL SALVADOR - Appointment of National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On May 9, 2014 Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed Fr. Estefan Turcios Carpaño, of the clergy of the Archdiocese of San Salvador as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in El Salvador for a five-year period (2014-2019 ).
The new National Director of the PMS was born in Comasagua (El Salvador) on April 9, 1951. He was ordained a priest on 7 December 1986. After studying philosophy and theology he graduated in Marriage Law and Missiology. He attended a course on the New Evangelization and one on the conclusions of Santo Domingo. He made a missionary experience of a year and a half in the Diocese of Riobamba (Ecuador). Among the positions held: Assistant pastor and parish priest, Seminary Professor, Executive Secretary of the Episcopal Commission for Biblical Pastoral, in charge of the Department of Evangelization, of the Secretariat of the Prophetic Ministry, of the Missionary of the Commission in view of CAM2, Diocesan Director of PMS, archdiocesan delegate for the Continental Mission, Member of CONAMI.
