EUROPE/CZECH REPUBLIC - The "Small Missionary Clubs" where children learn to help their needy peers

Prague (Agenzia Fides) - The children of Pontifical Holy Childhood in the Czech Republic have just published a collection of pictures and drawings in which their favorite missionary quotes are shown. The book, titled How children help Holy Father and children in the missions, contains 86 drawings made by young artists of all ages from 19 "Small Missionary Clubs", communities and families. According to information sent to Fides, the children depicted in the drawings their missionary activities such as prayer, thelp to others, saving money, but also themes inspired to mission Countries. Among the promoters Fr. Jiri Slegr, National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in the Czech Republic, who considers it as a tool through which we can all express the joy of the Gospel and the interest towards our neighbor in need. At the end of 2013, the "Small Missionary Clubs were 214 with about 2400 children who were actively engaged. The book was presented to the Holy Father by Fr. Slegr during the recent General Assembly of the Pontifical Mission Societies on May 9. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 14/05/2014)
