AFRICA/SENEGAL - Appointment of the Rector of the "Liberman" interdiocesan Seminary in Dakar

Vatican City ( Agenzia Fides ) - On July 17, 2013 Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed rev. Alfred Waly Sarr, of the clergy of the Archdiocese of Dakar as Rector of the "Liberman" interdiocesan Major Seminary of Sebikhotane in the Archdiocese of Dakar (Senegal).
The new Rector was born in Mbodiène (Senegal) on April 19, 1968 and was ordained a priest on June 29, 1996 at the Minor Seminary of Ngasobil (Archdiocese of Dakar). He carried out his formation at the "Saint Joseph" Minor Seminary in Ngazobil, the Major Seminary of Djibélor (Ziguinchor), the Major Seminary of Sebikhotane (Senegal), the Catholic University of Lyon and the University of Abomey-Calavi (Benin). He obtained a degree in moral Theology and in human rights international Law, in addition to the diploma of advanced studies in human rights. After his priestly ordination he was: Vicar of the Cathedral of Dakar, Diocesan Director of Catechesis, Diocesan Chaplain of Catholic Women, Professor of Moral Theology, General Secretary of the Bishops' Conference.
