AFRICA/CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC - Bishop of Bambari resigns, successor appointed

Vatican City (Fides Service) - The Holy Father, Pope John Paul II, on 6 November 2004, accepted the renunciation of the pastoral government of the diocese of Bambari (Central African Republic), presented by Bishop Jean-Claude Rembanga, in conformity with the Code of Canon Law, canon 401 § 2. At the same time the Pope appointed Bishop of Bambari, Mgr Edouard Mathos, until now titular Bishop of Giufi and Auxiliary of the archdiocese of Bangui (Central African Republic). (S.L.)
