AFRICA/BURUNDI - Card. Sarah in Burundi to inaugurate Benedict XVI School in Muyaga

Bujumbura (Agenzia Fides) – Card. Robert Sarah, President of the “Cor Unum” Pontifical Council, is in Burundi to inaugurate the “Benoît XVI” (Benedict XVI) School in Muyaga (Cankuzo) on Saturday, 5 March, on behalf of the Holy Father who enabled its construction. It will be entrusted to the Diocese of Ruyigi. According to information sent to Fides by the Apostolic Nunciature in Burundi, the Cardinal arrived yesterday, 28 February, at Bujumbura airport. While he is there he will meet political and administrative authorities, the Catholic Bishops and leaders of other religious confessions, the heads of Caritas Burundi and international organisations which collaborate with Caritas Burundi. In Gitega he will meet with the local Superiors of men and women religious, and with the seminarians from the John Paul II major seminary. This afternoon (1 March), Card. Sarah will celebrate Mass at the Marian Sanctuary of Monte Sion-Gikungu, in Bujumbura, and then at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Gitega, on 4 March. On Sunday, 6 March, he departs Burundi to return to the Vatican. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 01/03/2011)
