Seoul (Agenzia Fides) – “Communion and prayer are the beginning of true unity”, is the title of the message sent by Archbishop Hyginus Kim Hee-joong of Kwangju and President of the CBCK Committee for Promoting Christian Unity and Interreligious Dialogue, on the occasion of the upcoming Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2011 which is to be observed from January 17 to 23, 2011. According to information sent by the Korean Episcopal Conference to Fides, the Archbishop affirms in his message: “The Mother Church in Jerusalem manifested the importance of communion and prayer for the unity of the body of Christ in spite of the scars of division. The first Christians taught us the fact that we have to start with the communion sharing in the true value of Christians with passion of the disciples who suffered martyrdom, if we want to promote Christian unity.”
In conclusion, Archbishop Kim affirmed in his message: “We can be the true salt and light of the world realizing the peace of the Christ in this land if we first make peace with each other and live in unity. Let us make a time for common prayer if we meet the Protestant brethren in our home, work place and society. The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the unity will make us as one in prayer when we share in communion”. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 08/01/2011)
