ASIA/HONG KONG - Evangelising through reading: inauguration of Catholic area at Hong Kong Book Fair 2010

Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) – Today, 21 July, at 10.30am local time (Hong Kong), Mgr Michael Yeung Ming Cheung, diocesan vicar of Hong Kong, presided the solemn blessing and inauguration of the Catholic stands at the annual appointment of Hong Kong Book Fair 2010. According to Kong Ko Bao the diocesan bulletin, the Book Fair 2010 has the slogan “Reading the World from Hong Kong – Concerned with society, Interested in the Earth”. The fair will last until Tuesday 27 July. The Catholic diocesan community has prepared initiatives and events to launch a mission of evangelisation through reading. From 22 to 26 July people can take part in I-Talk, a meeting with priests and women religious to learn more about the meaning of life and find answers to doubts and questions. As every year, Catholic institution of communications and culture are present at the Fair: Catholic Lay Association, Kong Ko Bao, Diocesan Audio-visual Centre, Office for Social Communications, Hong Kong Catholic Centre, Catholic Truth Society, Pastoral Commission for Marriage and the Family. Moreover diocesan priests suggest ten best books for readers, especially young people, for example: “Why go to confession”, “Being a Christian with a free heart ”, “Fantastic Paul”, “Jesus of life: letters to young people".
