Thursday, 27 May 2010

Sydney (Agenzia Fides) - Allow students - with their original forms of art, their talent, and their genuine inspiration - to express what they have perceived and reflected on in the Year for Priests and what relationship they have with priests: this is the goal of the art exhibition that opens on June 1 in the crypt of St. Mary's Cathedral in Sydney. The exhibition brings together works by students of over 50 Catholic schools in the archdiocese, at the closing of the Priests.
According to local Church sources, the initiative, entitled "Our Priests," offers the opportunity to understand the vision and the idea that students have of priests.
The hundreds of students participating in the exhibition have talked with many priests and then represented them in various art forms. "It is an initiative that has boosted relations between young people and priests, who were able to explain their lives and their mission," say Church sources in Sydney.
The exhibition will be inaugurated by Cardinal George Pell, Archbishop of Sydney, and includes portraits, drawings, illustrations symbolic sculptures with different materials, artistic productions obtained with the use of modern audiovisual technology. (PA) (Agenzia Fides 27/05/2010)
