AMERICA/BRAZIL - Pastoral Land Commission holds 3rd National Congress

Brasilia (Agenzia Fides) – The Bishops' Conference of Brazil has announced that the Pastoral Land Commission (CPT), on May 17 to 24, will hold its 3rd National Congress, at the Marist School in San Jose, Montes Claros (MG). According to information sent to Fides, the theme for this year's event is: “Biomes, Territories, and Diversity of Farmers.” The slogan will be "Memory and Resistance in Defense of Life." About 800 people, including officials of the CPT, rural workers, representatives of social movements, and other guests will attend the Congress. According to the organizers of the event, the third Congress "will be a special time to reflect on the direction that employees will propose for the CPT's actions in the coming years." It will also be a moment to listen to the cry of the peoples of the earth, and to recall their struggles, bloodshed, and victories at the cost of great effort. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 04/24/2010)
