Thursday, 8 April 2010

Santiago del Chile (Agenzia Fides) – The coordinators who follows the stages of the Continental Mission, composed of some pastoral vicars of the various dioceses and representatives of various sectors of pastoral care, met in Santiago (Chile). The meeting was held April 6 at the Casa San Jose de Schoenstatt in La Florida, and was led by Bishop Santiago Silva, Auxiliary Bishop of Valparaíso and Secretary General of the Bishops' Conference of Chile.
The purpose of the meeting, as reported to Fides, was to discern and formulate proposals to implement the general plan of the Continental Mission, taking into account recent events experienced in the country. In a climate of prayer around the Word (using Mk 7:31-37 as a guide), there was a presentation of the path followed by the Continental Mission in 2009 and the pastoral consequences of the earthquake and tsunami, along with other high-impact issues that arouse the attention of the Church, were taken into consideration.
The national coordinator of the Continental Mission in Chile, Fr. Cristián Precht, described the main theme that will be the guide of 2010: "Chile, a table for all," which will focus on the living encounter with Christ in solidarity, as a reference point for the Bicentennial.
