AMERICA/CHILE - Continental Mission in Santiago in 2010 focuses on the youth

Saturday, 12 December 2009

Santiago de Chile (Agenzia Fides) – Over a thousand young people from universities, schools, parishes, movements, congregations, and church institutions are coming together at the Cathedral of Santiago today, Saturday, December 12 at 12 noon, to attend a Mass with a blessing and sending of missionaries, presided by Msgr. Cristián Precht, Vicar General of the Pastoral of the Archdiocese of Santiago, and National Director of the Continental Mission. This Mass has a particular connotation, as it marks a special moment for the Continental Mission, pastoral initiative that is taking place throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. The Mission proposes to all Catholics to enter into a process of renewal in their faith that allows the personal encounter with Jesus Christ. During the year 2010, the Mission will focus on young people, who are increasingly more vulnerable, and educators. During these days, hundreds of young people are preparing to go on a mission trip in January, mainly through "Misión País" and the Vicar for Campus Ministry. Others take advantage of the summer holiday period to attend the training meetings in parishes, chapels and apostolic movements. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 12/12/2009)
