Friday, 11 December 2009

Madrid (Agenzia Fides) - On December 9, in Madrid, the Salesian Missions launched their “Missionary Exhibition,” a traveling exhibition aimed at making more widely known the work of the Salesians in the 5 continents and to provide information about projects in operation in developing countries. The first stop for the Exhibition will be the Salesian Institute of Atocha (Madrid). Opening on December 9, it will remain in the School Library until December 16. It will also be a good introduction to the celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the founding of the Salesian Congregation on December 18.
The “Missionary Exhibition” has been put together in order to take it to Salesian Institutes and other works and to give new life to missionary promotion among the children, young people, families and parish groups. It consists in panels with updated information about the presence of Salesians in the world, their activities, and practical projects carried out by the Salesian Missions; and some glass cases in which are displayed various objects from the different cultures met with in mission lands. Missionary promotion is one of the key elements of Salesian pastoral work. The Educative Pastoral Plan of the “Saint John Bosco” Province of “Spain-Madrid” refers to “promoting a greater awareness of the world of the Salesian missions,” in order to foster appreciation for all that is connected with missionary and social voluntary service.
