Monday, 23 November 2009

Rome (Agenzia Fides) - The UCIIM, a professional association of Catholic teachers, managers and trainers, next 5 to 7 December will hold its XXIII National Congress in Rome on the theme: "For the school of the XXI century. Community life, training and professionalism." Participating in the event will be several hundred delegates representing about 6,000 members distributed throughout the country. The UCIIM for over 60 years has been a sure point of reference for teachers and non-Catholics. With this Congress that is taking place at a particularly important moment for the Italian schools, given the reforms that are being developed, they hope to clarify issues and express views. At the center of the debate will be training, which is an essential dimension of teacher professionalism and an inherent value in community life. We will question, as will the experts, as to the ethical dimension of professionalism on the international horizon, as well as on the new forms within the institutional framework and legislation.
On the final day the final document will be approved as a summary of the positions from the Congress that will form the platform for UCIIM for the next three years. (AP) (23/11/2009 Agenzia Fides)
