Trujillo (Agenzia Fides) – On the occasion of the Solemnity of Christ the King, there was also a celebration of the first anniversary of the Mission Continental in the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Trujillo. At 11 o'clock in the Cathedral, the President of the Peruvian Bishops' Conference, Archbishop of Trujillo, Archbishop Miguel Cabrejos Vidarte, OFM, presided the Mass, which was attended by a dense crowd of faithful from all parishes of the diocese.
In his homily, Archbishop Cabrejos recalled the importance of the encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist: "Our life would have no meaning, if we had not met Christ." The Archbishop also spoke of the work of evangelization that all missionaries should have as a permanent priority: "The work that we started is not a program or a mere action to complete. We must respond to the missionary activity, to the apostolic times, making it a permanent attitude."
After Mass, the Archbishop, along with bishops, priests, and hundreds of pilgrims, visited Plaza de Armas to offer their greetings to the institutions and persons who attended the first "Catholic Expo 2009". This event was organized to present the material, resources and strategies for the Church's evangelizing action in the Archbishop of Trujillo. Among other things, there were paintings, posters, brochures, audiovisual materials, websites, software, and a karaoke with Christian music. There were also presentations of new publications in the Biblical, theological, pastoral, educational, social and liturgical themes of the Church. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 24/11/2009)
