Thursday, 12 November 2009

Cairo (Agenzia Fides) – On October 31st, we held the ceremony of consecration for Bishop Adel Zaki, new Apostolic Vicar for the Latin Community in Egypt. The ceremony was held at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in downtown Cairo with the laying on of hands by the Apostolic Nuncio in Egypt, Archbishop Michael Fitzgerald, and Archbishop Marco Dino Brogi, former Nuncio in Cairo. Also present were Bishop Giovanni Innocenzo Martinelli, Apostolic Vicar of Tripoli (Libya), in addition to the majority of the Catholic Bishops in Egypt, and more than 300 priests.
On November 7, the Legion of Mary commemorated its founder Frank Duff, who died November 7, 1980. Over the years, he has become a model for lay consecrated. The Legion of Mary is a well-known apostolic group in Egypt. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides 12/11/2009)
