AMERICA/BRAZIL - Thousands of youth at the National Shrine in Aparecida, for National Youth Day

Aparecida (Agenzia Fides) – A vigil of prayer and reflection served as the preparation for the celebration of National Youth Day, which was held last Sunday in the National Shrine of Our Lady of Aparecida. Those present, such as philosopher Mario Sergio, who spoke on “Valuing Life,” in which he encouraged the youth to go beyond what they see. “Our life should go beyond that of a mundane life. Push yourselves to go beyond your expectations,” the philosopher said. The Mass was presided by Archbishop Raymundo Damasceno Assis of Aparecida and concelebrated by the Diocesan Bishop of Caraguatatuba (SP) and the leader of the Youth Ministry Section of the South Region 1 of the Brazilian Bishops' Conference (Sao Paulo), Bishop Antonio Carlos Altieri, as well as Bishop Eduardo Pinheiro da Silva, leader of the Youth Section of the entire Bishops' Conference.
