ASIA/CHINA - Diocese of Jing Xian receives 3 new priests in this Year for Priests

Heng Shui (Agenzia Fides) – Over 1,500 faithful of the Diocese of Jing Xian (today, Heng Shui), on mainland China, welcomed 3 new priests, in the celebration of this Year for Priests and at the close of the month for the missions. At 7am on Wednesday, October 28, Feast of Saints Simon and Jude, the parish of Lian Hua Chi was filled with faithful, according to information released to Agenzia Fides. Diocesan Bishop Feng Xin Mao presided the priestly ordination of Fr. Wang Xiang Ming, Fr. Xu Yong Qiang, Nad Fr, Gao Ai Jun. It was concelebrated by 50 priests, along with 10 deacons, 40 religious sisters from the Diocesan Congregation of Our Lady of Good Counsel, 15 major seminarians and 90 minor seminarians from the diocese. All those present gave thanks to the Lord for the gift of the priesthood and prayed that the major and minor seminarians can illumine the path of evangelization in diocese and throughout China, through there testimony.
“All I have today is thanks to the grace of the Lord, the Love of God. I could never express enough gratitude for all this,” said Fr. Wang Xiang Ming, one of the three new priests, in his homily at his First Mass celebrated at 10:30am, immediately following his ordination and held in his town, in the parish of Dong Wang (Zhuang), attended by over 600 faithful. Thirteen priests concelebrated with him, and there were 3 major seminarians, 28 minor seminarians, and 22 religious sisters in attendance. There were also many non-Christians who participated in the event.
With these last three ordinations, the Diocese of Jing Xian now has 38 priests. According to statistics from the diocesan website (updated in 2006), the Diocese has nearly 30,000 faithful, 2 Bishops, some 60 religious sisters of the Diocesan Congregation of Our Lady of Good Counsel, 30 major seminarians, 80 minor seminarians, 105 houses of worship (churches, chapels, and places of prayer), a preparatory seminary, a religious convent, and 4 clinics.
