AMERICA/COLOMBIA - Celebrations for Jubilee Year of Archdiocese of Cali begin, in commemoration of centennial anniversary of its erection

Cali (Agenzia Fides) – On September 8, Feast of Our Lady of the Remedies, Patroness of the Archdiocese of Cali, the Archdiocese officially began its Jubilee Year in honor of the centennial anniversary of its erection. The first commemorative celebrations took place in the “Merced” Chapel, where at 11am, a Mass was held especially for the clergy of the Archdiocese, at 4pm, a Mass was held for religious communities, and at 6pm, a Mass was held for the entire Archdiocesan community. That same day, in all the Archdiocese's parishes, the Jubilee was opened with a Mass there at the parish. According to information sent to Agenzia Fides, from the Office for the Centennial Anniversary of the Archdiocese of Cali, there will be several initiatives and celebrations taking place during the Jubilee Year. Among them are days dedicated to the sick, the Armed Forces, the family, children, youth, and priests. The close is scheduled for September 8, 2010, in the Cathedral. (GT) (Agenzia Fides 9/9/2009)
