AFRICA/CONGO DR - Bishop of Mbujimayi resigns, successor appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father Benedict XVI, on August 1, 2009, accepted the renunciation of the pastoral government of the Diocese of Mbujimayi (Democratic Republic of Congo), presented by Bishop Tharcisse Tsibangu Tsbishiku, in conformity with the Code of Canon Law, canon 401 § 1. The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Bernard-Emmanuel Kasanda Mulenga as Bishop of Mbujimayi (Democratic Republic of Congo). Until now, he has served as Titular Bishop of Utimmira and Auxiliary of the same diocese. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 31/8/2009)
