Friday, 8 May 2009

Madrid (Agenzia Fides) – The Archdiocese of Madrid, via the WYD Organizational Committee, has organized a contest to decide on the logo for World Youth Day 2011. The Archdiocese mentions that “the World Youth Days (WYD) are events of a global character and are open to all people. They have a clearly Christian identity and are directly promoted by the Pope himself, who invites all the youth of the world – Catholic and non-Catholics – who are interested in learning about the message of Jesus Christ and experiencing the Catholic Church.”
Participation in the contest is reserved to professional graphic designers working in Spain, including individuals or groups of both Spanish or foreign origin.
The contest has three phases: firstly, the presentation of official documents; second, presentation of the design and limitation to five finalists; third, determination of the winner and elaboration of winning logo. (RG) (Agenzia Fides 8/5/2009)
