Thursday, 23 April 2009

Taipei (Agenzia Fides) – Liturgical vestments from before and after the Second Vatican Council, a monstrance with over 100 years' history, a manuscript by Cardinal Paul Shan, antique chalices, religious paintings, and many other objects are being included in the rich and varied exhibition entitled “The Course of History,” dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Taiwan's evangelization. Sponsored by the Archbishop of Taipei and organized by the Research Center for Liturgy of the Theology Department of Fu Ren, the exhibition was opened at the same time as the pilgrimage to Our Lady of Wan Jin, constituting two main events in the 150th anniversary celebrations. The exhibition tells of the history of Catholics in Taiwan, as well as the history of the island itself. Many religious congregations active on the island have taken part in making the exhibition possible. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 23/4/2009)
