ASIA/CHINA- All through the month of May Catholics flock to shrine of Our Lady of SheShan

Shanghai (Fides Service) - As usual during the month of May, Catholics from all over China, the mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and even Chinese ethnic Catholics from as far away as Singapore, Malaysia Korea, flock to the shrine of Our Lady of SheShan in Shanghai. At four in the afternoon of April 30, the Shrine church bells ring to announce the start of the month of May which is a time of special prayers and devotions to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Daily Masses are attended by hundreds of people. Almost 2 thousand pilgrims gathered for Mass on May 1st at 8.30 in the cathedral and then took part in the traditional procession after Mass for opening celebration of the month of May. This was the first day of a spiritual pilgrimage that will last the whole month
