Tuesday, 3 February 2009

Cochabamba (Agenzia Fides) – The Permanent Committee (CEP) of the Bolivian Bishops' Conference (CEB) will meet on February 4 and 5 in the city of Cochabamba to address several internal issues of the Church, as well as the Permanent Mission that the Church in Bolivia is scheduled to launch on April 26, in Cochabamba.
The Secretary General of the CEB and the National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies of Bolivia, Fr. Eugenio Scarpellini has informed that the CEP meeting will be attended by the majority of the titular bishops and several auxiliaries, in order to address internal issues in the Church that are of great importance at this time, for a more positive and serene course of events for the Church. Another issue for the meeting is that of the Permanent Mission. Fr. Scarpellini made a call on everyone to pray “for our bishops, that this reflection on the Permanent Mission may make it something that reaches deep into our society and that it can be an important moment for renewal and conversion in our Church and so that we may become witnesses of the Lord and builders of His Kingdom.” According to information from Sandro Paiva, Executive Secretary of the Missions Commission, the celebration will be attended by missionary representatives from the 18 dioceses of Bolivia.
During these days, there will also be a reopening of the Clemente Maurer Retreat House, after several months of renovations. (RG) (Agenzia Fides 3/2/2009)
