Vatican City (Fides Service) - In view of the tragic situation in Iraq and the growing weight of several Muslim leaders on the scene Fides re-proposes
today its Dossier "Iraq and Religions", produced in March 2003,
offering a panorama of the history and situation of religion in
Iraq under the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein.
Next week Fides will publish an update to the 2003 Dossier examining the present state of relations between religions in the new Iraq, a year after the fall of Saddam Hussein: the social and religious picture in post-war Iraq; insurgence of new fundamentalist groups; new
alliances; statements by moderate and radical leaders; foreign influence, prospects, role and weight of religious communities in building the new Iraq.
