AFRICA/ZAMBIA - Official opening of the new Curia of Monze: a dream come true

Monday, 20 October 2008

Monze (Agenzia Fides) – It is a dream come true: after the Diocese celebrated 100 years of Christianity in 2006, the church of Monze thought it wise to have a conducive place of work; where all the necessary work could be carried on without any disturbance. According to information sent to Agenzia Fides by the National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Zambia, Fr. Bernard Makadani Zulu, the whole idea was initiated in 1995 after realizing the old offices were not enough to accommodate all the departments, commissions and councils of the diocese. The offices were also situated within the cathedral premises. The parish, diocesan commissions and councils will now use the old offices.
The new Diocesan Curia was done on the 10th October 2008. The Bishop of Monze, Bishop Emilio Partriarca officially opened the celebration of this day. Many people, priests, religious and laity witnessed the occasion, which was characterized by prayer, song and dance, in thanksgiving to God for this gift. Each and every parish of the diocese and some from outside the diocese joined in celebrating this wonderful moment. The new structure is a sign of unity to the people of the diocese, the church in Zambia and above all the universal church.
The Bishop thanked the Pontifical Mission Societies of the Propagation of Faith and all the people who have have offered their continuous support spiritually, financially, and materially. (S.L.) (Agenzia Fides 20/10/2008)
