Czestochowa (Agenzia Fides) – In preparation for the Synod of Bishops on the Word of God taking place in Rome, in the Year of Saint Paul, the Polish Catholic weekly “Niedzela,” based in Czestochowa, has been promoting the initiative “The Bible in the Family” since 2007. Each month, one of the Books of the New Testament is published, in addition to the regular text of the magazine. And thus, they are publishing nearly 1,500,000 copies of the books from the New Testament. “With this initiative, we are hoping to promote the importance of the Word of God in the family,” Editor-in-Chief Monsignor Ireneusz Skubis told Agenzia Fides. “This initiative is meant to serve as a reminder to families of the importance of daily reading of the Word of God as a fundamental part of family life.” (MF/SL) (Agenzia Fides 16/10/2008)
