AMERICA/CHILE - First National Day for Health Pastoral Care for coordinating diocesan initiatives from the new 2008-2012 Pastoral Guidelines of the Chilean Bishops’ Conference.

Thursday, 24 July 2008

Santiago de Chile (Agenzia Fides) – The First National Day for Health Pastoral Care will be held in La Florida (Chile) on August 6-8.
The general purpose of the encounter is “to present the diocesan experiences of Health Pastoral Care and coordinate the diocesan initiatives, working from the new 2008-2012 Pastoral Guidelines of the Chilean Bishops’ Conference (see Fides 15/7/2008), so as to improve pastoral services, thus making manifest the love of Christ that “heals the heart, restores freedom and originality, dignity and hope, divine gifts for personal growth and for serving others.”
The encounter is being organized by the National Health Pastoral Care Commission of the Bishops’ Conference, led by Bishop Marco Antonio Ordenes of Iquique. Invited to attend are the directors, leaders, and coordinators of Health Pastoral Care in the various dioceses throughout the country. The goal is to reach a greater participation and reflection and to this purpose, the National Commission has prepared a “working model” that has been distributed to all the dioceses and contains a series of matters to be addressed by the diocesan committees.
