Czestochowa (Agenzia Fides) – About 2,000 children and youth from families with economic difficulties or those living in poverty will be able to enjoy at least a part of their summer vacations in July and August. “Vacations with God” is a pastoral initiative geared towards children and young people of the Archdiocese of Czestochowa whose families have very little financial possibilities in offering their children summer activities. The initiative has been sponsored by the Pontifical Mission Societies, Caritas, and Catholic Action of the Archdiocese of Czestochowa.
“We want to reach out to children and families who have no economic possibilities in planning vacations. Our initiative is not only charitable, but formative, social, and Christian,” Fides was told by Msgr. Stanisław Iłczyk, Director of Caritas for the Archdiocese of Czestochowa. “The vacations organized for the poor children also have an evangelizing and missionary character, especially in this Year of St. Paul,” said Fr. Jacek Gancarek, Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies for the Archdiocese of Czestochowa. (MF/SL) (Agenzia Fides 11/7/2008)
