Vatican City (Fides Service) – The Holy Father, Pope John Paul II, has, 24 January 2004, accepted the renunciation of the pastoral government of the archdiocese of Taipei (Taiwan) and apostolic administrator of Kinmen, Quemoy and Matzu Islands presented by Archbishop Joseph Ti-kang, in conformity with the Code of Canon Law can. 401 § 1;
The Holy Father has appointed Metropolitan Archbishop of Taipei and Apostolic Administrator of Kinmen, Quemoy and Matzu Islands Mgr Joseph Cheng Tsai-fa, until now Bishop of Tainan;
The Holy Father has appointed Bishop of Tainan Mgr Bosco Lin Chi-Nan, until now titular Bishop of di Alessano and Auxiliary of Kaohsiung diocese. (Fides Service 26/1/2004; lines 9; words 103)
