Beijing (Agenzia Fides) - On receiving the Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury’s personal representative, Bishop Joseph Li Shan, who was consecrated as Bishop of Beijing with Papal approval, on September 21 of last year, said: “Evangelization, vocations, formation of priests, religious, and laity are all main priorities for me. We want to transform all our faithful into salt of the earth and light of the world.” In reference to the Church’s preparations for the Olympics, he said that, “we will place 16 priests, religious, and lay faithful at the service of the Olympics, in addition to the offering of the prayers of all Catholics. We will also offer the Mass in English, French, and Italian for all the visitors. Visiting foreign priests will also be able to celebrate Mass in their own language in our churches when they so wish.” (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 2/5/2008; righe 10, parole 138)
